Hi All!
I am asking around for any tips you may have for creating a PL type sound and song because in my eyes its something very complex and amazing and he was one of the artists to inspire me to start making music. So, here are some of the things I'm looking for:
1. Synths - how he made all the synths that you hear, and what the midi looks like, that gritty synth I love from Sunday School.
2. Samples - what to search for for certain things such as vocals, horns (40-50's big band/swing, blues?) strings, along with old school hip hop.
3. Drums - Derek has very unique drums in his tracks, would I just search around for those, maybe a place to find them.
4. Manipulation - How Derek takes all these things, and edits them and reworks them, such as he does with his samples and fits them in his tracks.
