I currently have a pair of Stanton 500ALs. I was looking at getting some Ortofons, but the price for 2 concordes is just incredible. I was wondering if anyone had experience with the OM series- these are the headshell mountable Orotofons. Is there any increased record wear? I was also wondering if anyone knew the major difference between the Pro series and the DJ series. (Other than one being silver and one being blue.) Thanks.

Keep in mind that it is only the stylus you need to replace - this in case you go for the Concordes.

Umm actually no matter what mount type you can replace the stylus without replacing the whole cart.

Back to the original question, as far as I know the OM and Concorde versions have absolutely similar performance, if you mount the OM correctly. Some people like the Concordes because it's an integrated system and you don't have any parts of the cart exposed (ie. wires). If you can get a good deal on a pair of OMs then by all means go for them!

The difference between the PRO and the DJ series is the frequency response (20-18000 Hz versus 20-20000 Hz) and I think the DJ series tracks slightly better. Also I'm not quite sure if you can get an elliptical stylus for the PRO series. Check www.ortofon.dk for details.

the OM's track better and have better sound quality, also they don't have the problem of bad connects that the concordes cause of their rounded contacts. I own the DJ concordes, because I am a lazy pewrson and didn't wan't to bother with headshells, but next needles wiil be OM's without a doubt.

Get the sphereical they track great and don't kill your records like the E's.

they sound the same... it's the same needle and same head only in diff. type of mount....
and actually Concorde usually sound better, cos' u can't mess up when u mount them....
