Opinions about Pro Tools LE 8

So I had some time to mess with the software a little (it's the first time I have messed with Pro Tools ever).

The software is built really well, it's a little hard on the eyes (comparing to Logic 8).

But as couple of people here told me "Pro Tools is for recording and Logic is for composing".
Well, they were right, Pro Tools still doesn't handle MIDI as good as Logic and is hard to compose with, but still, in recording, it has a better recording engine than Logic does and it works faster while I record a guitar / bass / vocals.

So I have decided to work with both of them, use Pro Tools LE 8 for recording and Logic Express 8 for composing.

Yea yo I messed with PT8 and it looks a lot more user friendly than previous versions. It looks less "intimidating," if u will.

Well, I never used the previous version, only seen it in photos and some studios I visited, it does look intimidating comparing to version 8 ^^.

Can you describe exactly what makes it faster? Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems like recording speed is determined entirely by playing speed. What else could slow you down in Logic?

BTW: I'm not just being difficult. I'm actually curious. I'm a Logic user. Wondering if I should check PT8 out.

yea the old pt looks intimidating..

this looks better.. I like the black mixer window..

how much does the upgrade from 7.4 cost?

When I say it's "faster" I meant it's more lightweight, in Logic it seems more heavy (maybe it's just me).
Don't get me wrong, Logic is still my most favorite software, but it's good getting everything from both worlds.

I think it's $149 if I'm not wrong.
But I have received a free upgrade since I bought my mbox 2 mini like 3 days ago.

DAMN! This is the first pro tools that actually looked attractive to me.

yea man.. I aint a fan of paying for stuff you should get for free, but I might have to gone & cop this upgrade..

I got the upgrade downloading right now, cost me $149 coming from version 7.4. I've only been using ProTools for recording vocals lately, then doing all the composing in Cubase, just because Cubase seems a lot more user friendly and simpler, but with the new features and look I might starting doing everything in ProTools.

It is nice. Kind of reminds me of a darker Garage band. Sweet upgrade though.

I like it. I have used Pro Tools a couple of times. I really need to get it, Since it seems a little like Logic now.

I like it so far, just wish there was a way to load your own samples into the boom drum machine, besides that I like all the new features and design.
