i saw the thread here on everyones top dub/ reggae/ragga/downtempo tracks- but how about albums as a whole?? Old school/new- classics...whatever. The kind of smoked out chill music where you dont really skip a track. So think hard. For me- Massive Attack vs. the Mad Professor - "protection", Peter Tosh- "Legalize it", and Bob Marley "Babylon by Bus". OK- yer turn.............:D :monkey:

a few classics to check out if you want your mind blown in a dubwise fashion:

The Seducer (Channel One) - an early Scientist album that will blow your mind if you can actually find it

Aswad - New Chapter of Dub - this is so deep

Treasure Isle Dub - rock steady classics in dub

The Mad Scientist Captures Pato Banton - not so mellow, but still a defining dub moment

the mad scientist- different from the scientist, i figure?? sounds good, i must admit -since you mention P . Banton...i like Buju Bantons'-- till shiloh, yeah kinda cheesy in parts-but he gets you going!!

sorry i meant Mad Professor - my bad!

Pato and Buju are nothing alike sorry... but Til Shiloh isn't cheesy at all- that is argueably the best dancehall album of the whole 90s!

what did you think was cheesy?

'Till Shiloh is definately one of the all time best dancehall/reggae albums. I also really liked Tanto Metro & Devonte's "Everyone Falls In Love Sometimes".

I agree with Curlz on the Tonto Metro and Devonte CD, though we are kinda off the original topic. The Lyrics are not that deep, but it's a fun CD to listen to. The beats are wicked, the hooks are good and each one sounds different, I would go as far as calling it good "Pop" reggae.

cheesy- maybe a bad word to use for BUJU - thats more like justin timberlake. Honestly till shiloh is great - i do find myself turning it off about three quarters through the album. I think it deserves a listen again. i will blow the dust off and let it rip in my headphones.

Anyone into downtempo stuff here??;)

In no particular order.....

Sizzla "Black Woman & Child"
Dennis Brown "Words of Wisdom"
Dennis Brown "Friends for Life"
Buju Banton "Mr. Mention"
Freddie McGreggor "Big Ship"

nice- i have never heard Mr. Mention-must check it out.
