MPC500 Question

I'm considering buying an MPC500 soon, the only thing is that I am very very comfortable at manipulating post effects (EQ, Delays, Reverbs) in Nuendo. I know the MPC units do a lot of these things internally as well as sequence in this manner.

I was wondering if it is possible with an MPC500 to use it as more of a sample instrument, using it to record to Nuendo track by track (song samples track, kick track, snare track) so I could work on them in the DAW as opposed to on the MPC. If this isn't possible does anyone know of any hardware that can be used as merely a sample recording instrument?

It has a 1/4-inch output so yeah you can do whatever you want in the MP be that drums of samples and then record that into your DAW and manipulate away.
