MPC1000 + Axiom 25 + Reason 4 Help

I have an Akai MPC1000, Propellerhead Reason, and and M-Audio Axiom 25 keyboard. I'm trying to use Reason as a sound module for my MPC, so I have a connection like this:

MACBOOK (REASON)---USB--->AXIOM OUT----MIDI CABLE----->MPC IN

I have set the MPC settings to:

[MIDI Settings]
Active track receive channel: All
Soft Thru: Off
Sequence Change by Program Change: Off
Pad to Internal Sounds: Off

[Sync Settings]
Sync In: 1 (MIDI is plugged into Port labeled "1")
Sync Out: Off

[Track Settings]
Type: MIDI
Program: Off
MIDI: 2A

My settings in Reason set my bass device/program to channel 2A.

I have turned "MIDI Out" on my Axiom keyboard off (this is what I've heard you're supposed to do), but have also tried it while on.

The problem is that no MIDI signals are being sent to the MPC (I think). If I try to play something on the keyboard, I can hear it and everything. But if I try to record something, it won't play back.

I don't have any idea why, and the cable works fine with other equipment. Is there something that I'm doing wrong?

I HAVE read the manual(s), and looked online, and haven't found a working solution with the AXIOM 25. I think the Axiom is somehow the root of the problem, because everyone else seems to have no trouble.
