I'm kinda at a crossroad fellas I have a ASR 10 At the post office Ready for Pick up Its fully blew out exept the zip and cd player

I'm thinking about putting it up on ebay for like 700 and picking up a MPC 60 Blew out w/ the software for importing waves the new OS 52 seconds of sampling and zip for 1150

or I can go W/ a maxed out 2000xl with built in zip and a cd player (i dont know the sampling time for this)

Can any body give me the pro's and con's

why??

You should keep your ASR10! The MPC's have no built-in effects and no keys... The ASR sequencer could be better, but you can use a computer if you wanted to....

The only thing that the MPC has that I like is the option to build you sequence without stopping the sequencer...

Peace

as someone who previously owned an asr 10....GET THE 60...
im assuming your interested in the low end...it cant be beat!!!!

im sure youve read the reviews. a fully upgraded 60 blows everything out of the water, your beat s will never sound the same.

as for the effects...WHAT EFFECTS DO YOU NEED???

if your beats bang .dont **** em up. why play beats on keys when you can drum em out?

besides that, i got my 60 with one kit sampled hot off a jomox tb 303 module, with the note variation used via the slider (you can do it live while playing as well), plus the envelope/velocity/tune variations (all available on Linn 3.10) I came out with 20 plus different sounding beats from this one kit, you can turn a tom into a ol skool slam bass...the possibilities are endless.

i use mine with nothing more than Pro Tools for recording/arranging, a cheap *** midi Casio, a S950 sampler, and a Joe Meek VCQ1 for some serious compression (highly recommended as well)....all my other gear has become obsolete since i got this formula down
hope that helps.:D

Dude stick with the asr10. The MPC was designed to sample short phrases and one hits. The sampler is week compared to a stand alone sampler. Time stretching on the MPC takes all day (depending on how long the sample is). 9 times out of 10 if you need to time stretch, its not a one hit.

If you got the skills you dont need to time stretch.

:D

Get the 2000xl and keep the asr10 too, they are the perfect combo, thats what I rock.
I say the 2000xl over the 60 cuz it got way more features.
The mpc is the bomb sequencer, great to control the asr with.
The asr have some dope fx and the ability to resample sounds with fx.
for more info and mpc and asr tricks and tuips peep out www.soundsforsamplers.com

btw..the if you want to time streatch the 2000xl is the ****,I would not advise doing it on the asr though,it takes mad hours to process 4real!

anyone wanto sell their mpc2000 or xl to me - i live in canada... as far as the comparison goes think of it this way....................

asr-10: rza, alchemist, akrobatik, timbaland, aesop rock, mr lif

mpc: premier, mhz, hi tek, outcast, shadow, pharouh monch, k def, spinna, fase, evidence, pete rock

some ppl like the keyboard set-up, some don't

oh ya dr dre uses an sp-1200

Oh yeah, and DR. DRE also uses an

MPC 3000
MPC 2000
MPC 60
and about every analog, synth, and sampler on the market.
Oh yeah, and DR. DRE doesn't actually USE any of the above, Mel Man and the crew does. :)

Who cares about what dre's using ? why ? Thank god, he doesn't use hip hop e-jay...
Seriously, what can you learn about other people's setup ? It's not the equipement that makes the music...
Everybody knows that Herbie plays on Rhodes and accoustic piano right ? Why people don't start to learn music first ? Why everybody's not buying a Rhodes EP then ?
Every week I can see someone asking about dre or neptunes equipement, but how does it matter ? What do you get if you learn that ? Cash ? Talent ? Good taste ? Erection ?
Sorry 'bout this little message, but I had to...

one thing i can tell you -- with a fully blown mpc2000xl, you'll get about 189 secs worth of sampling time -- that's enough time for anybody who samples -- and from what i've heard in your production -- i would look into the 2000xl -- it may lack a little on the sample tweaking capabilites -- but it is a sequencing and midi powerhouse -- and if you have decent audio recording/multitracking software -- then you can do all your tweaking and mixdowns there -- you will never have a better feeling than being able to thump your own drums into the track through pads

It's unfait, you beat is hot, I think you should have win the whole battle with that one.
Do you compose on MPC2k ?

Stick with the ASR-10, especially if it has the scsi out. You can cop an MPC 60 off of ebay in fair to good condition from $600 to $800. Save your money so you can have both of them. If your using the MPC for drums, it has more than enough sample time for a drum kit when the memory is maxed out. The Roger Linn OS 3.1 makes figuring this machines options as easy as possible. I would say that you could find a fully functional 60 for $500 to $600 dollars. The cosmetic condition may be worn, but are you gonna create beats from the way it looks? Anyways, the ASr-10 keys, would make it great to sample across the board. Keep it.

Anyone know where to get an updated OS for the MPC 60? Also , how do you rock the ASR with the 60?

@MrKasualUltra

cant believe you own yourself an mpc???

those beats are ****in wack..sounds like magix music maker yo
