Supposely the MPC 60 with the ver 3.1 upgrade is a 12-bit version of the 3000, is this true?
I want to get a Roger Linn MPC for sequencing, not really for sampling. What are the differences besides memory?

Try getting the specs of both machines dude and you will see the difference.

check out mpc-forums.com and do a search someone has answered it. I think the 3000 has filters , and a 3 note click in thing that the 60 doesn't have. the 60 has 12 bit sounds while the 3000 has 16 bit.

primo uses the 60. check out pitch black its all real because on the 60 the 12 bit drums sound grimey. not as grimey as the emu sp1200 but very in ure face grimey.

the mpc 60 will be about half the price as the 3000.

I got a 60 mk1 and i wouldn't sell it

I didn't get either! I successfully modified my 2000 with a data card reader so I'm good to go.

I know the hardware diffences, I'm concern about the software. I want to use it to sequence. I don't care about the sound. Everything I hear is the Ver 3.10 upgrade is the same has the 3000. is that true software wise.

its true and not true u will be alot more limited with the upgraded 60 than with the 3000 the 60 sounds better but its more limited the 3000 can uprgade up to 16mb while the 60 is on 1.5 the 3000 kills in sample mem as well but if u have the 60II w/ another sampler preferably something with a wave editor like a triton use that w/ the 60II and u wont be at all limited sample in the triton and create ur own patches in there and sample drums and sequence in the 60II

layout is different. screen on left on 3k, right on 60. buttons are more spaced out on the 60 and get that pimp leather armrest. but if youre not going to sample, go with the 3k, as it has faster processor and midi timing will be tighter, unless youre looking for sloppier feel. 3.16 rom is available for 3k as well.
