Monitors

Right now im using portable bose speakers (portable soundock) as monitors, i love them. I wanted to get monitors but right now the only thing i can afford are some M audio AV30 or 40s, should i stay with the bose or do i buy the M audio?

I'm not sure about the M-Audio's that you mentioned, but some of the earlier M-Audio monitors in the lower budget range had bad specs for bass. The cutoff frequency was around 100 Hz, which is way too high. Even 70 Hz is a bit too high, but that's what my monitors are at and I find them to be manageable though. I just have the Edirol MA-15D "micromonitors" which were very hard to get used to and which color the sound (they aren't accurate).
