ok, i need to get some vocals down for tomorrow but i don't ahve a windscreen. anyone have any ideas? i tried using a sock but the vocals just sound muffled.

Hello,

A sock is too thick thats why it sounded muffled.

Try using panty hose. Sheer energy type sh!t. You would also have to rig up some sort of ring to stretch it around and then you would have to have something hold it about 3 inches from the mic.

Do you have any music stores around you? I think it would be easier to just buy one instead of going through the trouble of making one. I seen them range in price from $19 and up (US dollars)

What kind of mic is it? they do sell foam pads for an SM58 type of mic that wraps around the crown of the mic. They cost about $3 (US dollars). They work well also.

Let me know?

pantyhose work

also ive read that putting a pencil up against the microphone and having it strapped to it with a rubberband works also, have it over the part that is directed towards you

ok, i got some pantyhose and made a frame to stretch it over, now i'm having trouble attaching it to the microphone. It's a cheapo performance dynamic mic, like the sm58, except much cheaper. i'm thinking maybe just wrap the pantyhose around the mic head so it forms a sort of bubble...?

Pantyhose, wire coathanger bent into shape. That's the tried-and-true low-rent way right there.

Alternately, turn the mic at a slight angle and sing past it rather than straight into it.

Or you could always just put the pantyhose on your head. Your voice has to go through the panties then, right?

pantyhose then cut out the inside circle 2 the top of a cool whip jar then stretch the pantyhose ova it n staple it down. good luck

i once used an old dress sock and a wire hanger for a "pop blocker" it worked good but not nearly as well as my $20 real pop filter i got off ebay. i would strongly suggest buying a real pop filter.

great guys, i just ended up following cruellhoax and herostunts advice, i cut the lid off a margarine tub and stretched pantyhose over it, then attached it with a wire hanger. thanks guys!
