I'm planing to buy the Yamaha PSRD1-DJX (http://www.yamaha.com/cgi-win/webcgi.exe/DsplyModel/?gPPK00005PSRD1-DJX)

I want to know if it's a good keyboard for use in REASON?

thanks...

wait... first, the DJX is a OK keyboard...

secondly, to use REASON, or any other software synthesizer, you do NOT need a keyboard that produces any sound... You can buy a $99 dollars MIDI controller (evolution MK149 or equivalent) and BOOM you send MIDI NOTE ON/OFF and other controls to your computer.

This will help I think.

DJX Keyboard & GrooveBox....

NO...STOP....STEP AWAY FROM THE SALES COUNTER!

Ok.....

The DJX line of products are kind of fun
to play with at the music store. That's about
it. The keyboards are nothing more than
a fun toy.

As one of the other replies to your questions,
just get a MIDI controller for REASON. I
use my Alesis QS8 most of the time, but its big.
I was thinking about getting one of those small midi
keyboards for $99 to $150 just because its small,
and fits in front of the computer better.

But..skip the DJX products. Again fun on the surface,
but not deep instrument to invest.

Actually to start out the DJX is a good keyboard to start with.Don't expect to make Dr.dre beats but you can make good music on this cheap keyboard. After you practice a little save up some money and get a big synth.

Hey the DJX is the BEST KEYBOARD EVER CREATED...

...And that's why I'm selling it.

swain´s dead right, stay away from the djx.
Some grooveboxes are ok, but that´s about it. All those cheap dj-aimed synths suck big time.
You´ll get bored very very soon with those things.
Get a midi controller, or if you really want a synth, maybe consider the yamaha cs1x, you can get one 2nd hand for about 200$, and they make good midi controllers

Stay away from grooveboxes. First months it is a cute toy with (you think at that moment) great sounds... but it will be definitely the first thing you'll sell.

DJX is a toy, that's sure. But it's very different from a groovebox....

For me, DJX looks like those 90's PSR Series small keyboards. A lot of musicians learned to play with those series, but I would never compare it with grooveboxes like MC 909, 505, or RM1X from Yamaha.

I think Roland's grooveboxes are incredible machines. And what about Electribes????

A groovebox is higly recommended if you are on dance scene and youy don't want to operate a computer on stage.
The weak part of grooveboxes is the sound. Edition and creation of pathces is not the best feature of the grooveboxes, but the operational part is OKl for me.

Connect thru MIDI a MC-505 with the Roland Phantom, and you'll a powerful new instrument. You can play continuosly.

Or use a Korg Karma, or a Motif, connected thru MIDI with the
16 tracks RM1X. Use the advantages of the RM1X operative functions combined with the sounds of the Motif.

I use on stage a 6 grooveboxes network (Mc 307,505,909, ER1, EA1), and I could not live without them...

I think is a question of application and your purposes....

you have a point Balma, but I can also agree with THM if he says that it's the first you will sell.
I got the mc303, and although I hardly ever touch it, I just keep it for quick drums.
I think that indeed, as mentioned above, the sounds on the grooveboxes are crap, but they're very useful tools for people that hate all that programming crap. (I like playing more than programming) so I can very well imagine that people that just wanna have some fun are quite satisfied with their groovebox.
I'm not; though :p

Thanks for your response. Do you think using this keyboard as a midi controller (FL/Reason) is a good idea?
