Is a MPC the answer?

if this helps i used to use FL also back in the day. i bought a mpc 2000xl and my beats have improved. i felt al kind of new ideas. they had me vibe and and swing to them. my homies noticed and agreed also. but you have to have skill none the less. FL always made my beats boring and kinda one dimensional style wise

MPCs have good resale value compared to software though so keep that in mind when comparing that to Reason or any other software.

If I were you, I would just book some time at a studio that has an MPC and work. that way you learn how to use the machine with someone there that can guide you thru and help you learn how to properly track out/mix your MPC tracks in the event you actually do buy one. I did that a few years ago and learned on the MPC 4000...
