Hello Producers,

my name is Brian aka Inspirmentalist. i started this thread in the music industry section but got nowhere. i was just wondering if there were anyone that has interned for a radio station, music studio, or record label? how was your experience and did you learn anything from it? i just started at wuworld radio station and i'm loving it. i hope it gives me the skills i need to be an audio engineer.

I did a 2 week 'making radio' course at a local community station a couple years back during a short period of unemployment... It was fun but having spent a fair amount of time in commercial recording studios in my youth; and having my own home studio now, I didn't gain a huge amount of technical knowledge there... Their equipment was quite dated (although solid) and I would get better results at home from an audio perspective.

There doesn't seem to be the same level of opportunity for studio internships here in the UK as there are in the US... A lot of the commercial studios in the north are pretty small set-ups that specialise in a particular field/genre with the owner generally on the boards and running tech in the live room (if he has one)... Proper Mastering studios are definitely a separate entity.
Probably very different in the larger cities (London/Manchester).
