SUPER MOD(ERATOR)
Well 4,294,967,296 presets to be exact. And it's for FREE on the Image-Line Website.

Here's some info on it from the website :

Enter an amazing and unexplored sonic universe, armed only with Autogun, search 4294967296 (Four Billion Two Hundred Ninety Four Million Nine Hundred Sixty Seven Thousand Two Hundred Ninety Six) presets for their acoustic potential.

But wait! If you listen to 1 preset, every second, 24 hours a day, it will take you over 136 years to complete this task. It’s clear you will need backup, and you have it, your fellow Autogun users. Every Autogun is set to start from a unique preset number, so that each member of the team is assigned a personal starting address, ready to explore. However, you can at any time, jump to a new location in the preset-space by simply entering a preset number.

Once a prized sound is discovered, and it’s preset number logged, share them with other Autogun users or import them into Ogun, for detailed study or further development.

With so many presets Autogun needs no programming, every sound is already somewhere 'out there' you just need to locate it, and you will, Autogun's sonic landscape is a sonic adventure.

Now i'm kind of confused about whether there's actually that much presets since the size of it is only 4MB, or whether there's that much possibilities since the presets are randomly generated like some people over at KVR have said.

But then there's no controllable parameters so how's that possible.

Anyhow if that's how much presets are randomly generated then when people say "The possibilities are endless" they're really not since there's only 4,294,967,296.

I've been waiting for a vst synth that has a shytload of presets since i don't know how to program synths.

Quote from someone over at KVR :

"if only they could tack on that old idea that Brian Eno used to talk about- where the synth gives you 10 presets- and you pick the one that is closest to the sound you want- then it gives you 10 more presets close to the first one you picked- and you pick once that is closer- and so on until you get the sound you want
Anyway what do you guys think."

Now that would be fukking cool.

Anyway what do you guy's think about it. Have any of you used it?

BTW i know this is posted in the wrong section but i figured i'd get more views and more comments here so if you need to move it please do.

That's weird i thought i posted this in the Hip-Hop/R&B forum.

Anyway, i've just installed and checked it. It really has got that many presets, (it's got the sound designers name and a description for each preset, funnty ones like "Sounds like Canada in a microwave") but since it doesn't have a REALLY big preset list (DUH!) you have to click on the question mark button to see which preset your using and then write it down somewhere like notepad. On a good note though it saves the preset when you save you project which is a good thing (i was kinda worried).

It also saves the preset you were on when you shut the program down so when you start up again it's still on the same preset instead of on the first one like on a lot of vst's, which i havn't come across before but is a life-saver since you can't go through all the presets if starts you of at the beginning again. Imagine getiing preset 1,167,987,465 and then being put at number 1 again.

Now the important factor : the sound quality.

I went through about 15 prests most of which sounded shyt but a couple sounded usable. I won't complain though because the vst's FREE. There will be loads of good presets since there's so many but when you do find them you'll have to make a big list somewhere with the preset number and a description i suppose.

On a sidenote it would have been good if there was an openable panel so you could see all the parameters abd tweak them. Obviously there's got to be parameters since there's sounds being generated but no panel. I think you can tweak them by using Ogun the Image-Line also by buy exporting presets from AutoGun and into Ogun but i havn't tried it so i don't know how.

Sidenote 2, there should have been a funtion where you could make lists and save organise presets there. E.g. Leads, Basses, Ambience, FX.

And finally sidenote 3, additionally to the panel idea i think there should've also been an arp function with trancegat and lost of different options such as with Albino, FM8 And Vanguard.

With these functions i think this vst would've definately been a staple go to vst for a lot of people especcially since it's free.

Maybe they'd read this and put these functions in an update or later version since it's been released for less than a month.

BTW i'm really surprised that this hasn't been posted about as much here as a lot of other vst's and even more surprised that more people don't know about it. Maybe it's because they havn't really advertised anywhere.

Okay more info there's a master volume button and and a "Magic Dust" button. Don't know what it does after playing with it.

The interface looks interesting. Dark and plain but it still doesn't look cheap if a little plain.

Performance is pretty bad i'd say. I've got a single core 2.2 GHZ AMD PC with a gig of ram and i've used FL Studio 8 XXl to check this vst and it's taking a lot of CPU power. It's taking 80% or more when i play 4 finger chords or more than 5 or 6 notes quickly. Maybe this is because of FL i don't know but i think people with really weak computers wouldn't be able to run this efficeiently. They'd probebly struggle running more that 2 instances playing simple melodies.

we should make a thread posting up cool preset numbers

Yeah, someone should put this in the hip hop forum. I just read your post this morning. I couldn't quite wrap my head around this thing actually having that many presets. But i checked it out anyway.

Yep, it really is a free image line vsti that has over 4 billion presets.

However, like someone mentioned in another forum online I read, many of the presets are similar. But for the most part they are different enough...it's basically the perfect vsti to start laying over some phatty drums.

I definitely like how quickly you can move through the presets. I didn't notice any loading at all. You can make it go random, or type in the preset number 1 through 4294967296 lol.

The main thing I was worried about was sound quality. I didn't hear any "bad" sounds. But I didn't hear any "outstanding" ones either. I only listened to 50 or so. I'd say they are all in the category of useable to "Hey, I think I found a really good one!"

In the process I found a similar product in the number of sounds, not free though. It's called synplant. I haven't toyed with it too much but its gui has this concept of "growing" your sound from a small seed in the middle of your screen. The more you grow it and how you grow it (using your mouse to drag and extend out "vines" from the seed) the more the sound changes. There are other options to help change the sounds along with the "growth."

Both are cool, but synplant is more complicated...or should i say interactive considering out of the hundred vsts i own I'd say these two are simple.

This sounds awesome, at least when you are looking for that starting instrument to use you can just randomize!! You will most likely be unique too!

I heard the demo sounds kinda good, but I can't use it they don't have it for mac :(
This is for when you need that extra sound that no one has, this is kinda hot. I already heard some stuff to get inspired.

i hate this plugin so much that i deleted it.skit just got to me..its too many freakin presets and you cant even tweak them

I think you can if you use Ogun, another i think free image-line vst.
I think your supposed to export from autogun and into ogun or maybe set a search folder in ogun but since i dont use ogun and havnt checked how to tweak im not sure. Someone on KVR was saying it.

Anyway check on KVR and the image-line website for more info that's really your best bet since this isnt a well known vst and doesnt have nowhere near as much users as almost all other vsts.

this vst is pretty good depending on the type of music you do. for house and trance it's very nice. for hip hop/rap it may need some tweaking espcially on the reverb.
i have it in FL Studio 8 so i would think you can tweak the sound using one or more of FL processors.
if you like that vst you need to check out Rob Papen's Predator and Blue vst's, they're dope....

this is kinda phat...i downloaded it into fl 8, haven't ventured into fl 8.5 yet...i like such a deep reservoir of sound to work with...it being freeware is nice too

Too rich for my blood i guess, lol! Sounds like they are compensating for nothing, because FL is a beast on it's own. If anything change the scenery,LOL! Tired of looking at black screens! Fresh UPDATE perhaps?

And on that note, it only confuses new producers to choose their own niche IMHO!

I tried it, it's amazing , I spend about 4 hour discovering some sounds, most of them sound great !

I think it's a good idea as it makes the instrument choice wide open especially for those who are not affordable to buy a lot of software and material

Yeah....4 billion presets and they're all garbage.
AutoGun is just a cpu monster with crappy sounds.

And no...i'm not hating on fl studio cuz i own that DAW.

is this real or another BeetMaker VST, because 4billion is ****in retarded. and itll take me a 136 yrs to listen to all the presets no thank you. oh and dont forget no tweaking, you have to get a whole nother vst called ogun to tweak. Wow. thanks imageline.

But no really, Great Concept though.

As said before a number of times, the whole "4 billion" thing is really just clever marketing (even though it's free) - it's just like any other synth with a "randomize patch" button. Take synth x, and multiply all the possible knob positions with the number of knobs/faders and routing possibilities and you'll soon approach similar figures.
