If I could get it used for around $250-$300, I'd try to find the best used preamp that fit my budget that I could find to pair it with.

I'd go for a used Audio Technica 4033 and Shure sm57. That'll cover everything you could encounter. You'll probably get the 57 with a stand/cable deal for cheap, and just need to add a pop filter for another $25ish.

If you go with a large diaphragm condenser mic, I'd suggest looking for one with a high pass filter (to prevent pops and rumble) and even possibly a pad switch (so it can take loud sources) so that you get a very versatile microphone.

Rode NT 1-A large diaphragm condenser mic. For recording the quietest most versatile mike your gonna find. For $300 ish, you'll get it with a pop filter, suspension cage and a mic lead. Just make sure you have phantom power for it.
