How do you talk to other artists?

Do you have any rules that you follow when introducing yourself or generally talking to other artists?

I ask because they always seem incredibly sensitive especially when it comes to "hey man check out my music" and i give honest feedback and try to help them on points they could improve. Does that come off as "know it all-y", should i just keep my mouth shut or feed them nothing but positive bs or am i associating with the wrong people?

I usually try to keep it 100, if they don't take it or try to be an ahole about it its there choice. If they don't care about what people have to say generally they don't about what there putting out. If its someone that I don't think that takes it seriously Ill say its "ok"
