how do you get your 808's to knock like jahlil beats?

Firs things first is getting that 808 him and lex use, almost sounds like that stock. Then just some eq of the other instruments to open that low end and you're good.
 
Well you gotta layer and eq your mids and his too at the right frequencies make the bass knock more. And you can always sample his bassline by filtering.
 
First of all,Id get out of the habit of using "Soundgoodizer" because it becomes a pain when you're mixing.Instead of using a preset that just squashes it to death use a good compressor where you can tweak exact settings .

To get those 808s to hit that hard I usually add a little bit of distortion to it and make sure that it's the only thing occupying that sub range.Sometimes it's not about altering the kick a lot,but EQing what's around it to make it fit .
