How do you all sample things effectively and efficiently?

For me, I am someone who usually makes my own melodies, however I finally came up with a consistent/practical method for sampling. Typically, I use something called "Song Surgeon" to quickly change the key/bpm of the sample, and then add it into my DAW. Does anybody else use an additional piece of software when sampling? If so, what do you use?
