can someone keep this real simple for me?

If i want to sell a beat exclusive/non-exclusive to a rapper/rappers...all i need is to copyright the beats, copyright my producer name, and use a split sheet as a "receipt" right?

who track how and if I get paid or not when they do shows or for like house parties or something? ASCAP? BMI? I don't know if their doing shows or anything but just in case.

How do i specify what they can use the beat for and stuff?

Agreed with dwells. Speak with an attorney. They may reccomend something like an exclusive performance/rights contract/agreement. Also if you have a company established, hiring a per-job representative to check performances with a video camera may be worth your time if you do not trust an artist outright. You are legally entitled to film the artist performing your work provided that that is explicitly stated in a contract agreement.
