Has anyone had success with homemade bass traps?

I'm looking into acoustic treatment of my room, any tips on cheap DIY bass traps?

Bookcases (full), tires (the last two are more diffusors than bass traps, but they can be very helpful), thick chairs or bean bag chairs, old heavy bags; basically anything with mass that will cut the corners of your room for you.

Rockwool RW3 slabs wrapped in bed sheets did the job for me years back
