Goin back, Way back....

There was a time back when rap was seen as more of a positive force for the black community, but the image has constantly been driven down further and further, now its more of a rarity to see. With the new wave of rappers such as future and chief keef in the field, will rap ever recover and build back into a positive force or is this simply a change in culture over time that is irreversible ?

Being positive is good and all,but that doesn't sell records in this world,so no i dont see that kind of rap coming back.If people want to hear positve rap theres Christian rap they can listen to also.

Nope, not coming back. Lupe already tried this, and despite a decent level of success, he'll never match up to the success of the ignorance guys like Lil' Wayne or Nicki Minaj exhibit every day. And Lupe's career is tapering at this point.

It's all about what the industry wants, if they wanted that type of rap to make a comeback they could have easily done it with Lupe or any of the other underground concious guys brewing right now by putting a huge amount of $$$ into their names & brand imaging, but they want to promote ignorance & the dumbing down of society, hence why Wayne is so big.

Positive rap is back.. its just hard to decipher it in 2012. The need for ignorant songs is at an ALL TIME high, and the artist who are positive realize that so they to have a balance in songs,THEY CAN'T JUST COME OUT AND PREACH..EVERYONE WOULD CLOSE THE DOOR ON THEM IMMEDIATELY.. So They talk about Cars,Money,Drugs,Hoes but in a figurative way.. Or they rap about it just to get the BLINDS attention then preach in the next few bars.. back and forth... its all about balance.
Two artist who I believe do this: Stalley (MMG) Ab-Soul (TDE) ... they more or less talk about their personal experiences/battles to help everyone else grow.
