Finger drumming is hard.
I've been trying for 5 years and my improvement has been next to nonexistent!
Ok... There's been some improvement - but I still suck.
It's hard!
theres a few little tricks though for the crappy finger drummer... Group a ride to your kick drum. Put a delay on your closed hi hat. Set your hats on their own choke group.
These are things I do in general production anyway (especially a hats choke group) so I kinda stumbled on it improving my FD technique.
I can't think of a time where I've kept one of my own FD performances in a track without editing the midi (a lot!) though, so I'm probably the wrong person to answer.
