i been checkin these boards and here's my opinion

motif es=======
it has better over all sound that come with it.you can buy an output expander either eight anolog or firewire.the drumz sound very natural. the screen looks confusing but the average owner said he picked it up in a couple weeks and it became easier. you get 8 insert effects. the sampling has pitch lock so you can speed it up without changing the note.

fantom-x=================
the screen makes it very easy to use for anyone who has worked on windows. the sounds are good(motif es has better acoustics) the drumz sound fat. it's got alot of expansion sound boards. the skip back sampling is rediculous. it has auto chop for your loops. it has the drum pad for your samples (easy for mp users) it only has two stereo or four mono output's and no firewire. the effects are descent. auto loop works very quick and not much loading time. expanadble sample memory.

triton extreme===============
i don't **** with the triton for making hip hop i think the sounds are way to thin but they did take a step with the tube they added.....

overall i would've chose the fantom x but the output thing killed me i can't sit around two or four tracking beats....pk www.soundclick.com/pk

yeah i want one of those to, but of course the mpc and asr come first, then ill add a synth

The piano and the pads (synth strings, etc.) in particular, sound very good to me. I certainly wouldn't mind owning one. Maybe I'll consider the rack version.

the thing that killed me out the fantom x was that you only have four seperate outputs. i don't wanna take twenty minute to record a 5 minute beat....that was my only gripe....pk

Are there workstations that offer more than 4 outputs out of the box?

out the box no. but if i can get a board that i can supe up vs. a board i just have to work around it's an easy choice.....pk

the insert effects are what really pull the es over the top. the fantom has more full performace sounds but in sequencing mode all the effects go to sh!t an you're left with something a lil thin element wise. great board though. love the pads to death. awesome feel

Yo Pk if your really feeling the fantom other than the 4 outs to record a beat, let me give you a tip that i do. If you listen to your beats everything you make will pretty much loop after 8 bars so in your fav. audio tracking program just record about 10 bars and then copy 8 of them about10 times and cut out the parts for you song. I have the motif es and i love the extra outputs it has but with my motu sound card and mpc with 8 outs i share the 8 inputs of the motu 4 from the mpc, four from the motif es and this is how i do it unless im in a bigger studio..it only takes me 3 min. to do a who song.

i see what you saying but thats not how i record to pro tools. especially if i have a switch up in patterns then i gotta rhyme along with the beat. maybe its just the feel. kinda hard to explain....i just say thats my preference..

due to my friend copping the motif i might just get the fantom x...i would get the motif but the word industry standard turns me off.....i'm not knocking the fantom at all i would like to work with one becuase i love sampling....pk

u wouldnt need the mpc if u got the fantom.

^^ He could get it,if he wanted to use it for seq.,but if he didnt,then you right he wouldnt need a mpc.

I dont do Hip-Hop, but, Im in need of a workstation for scoring a movie, I have only 1-2 weeks left to decide on one.

If I get the Fantom-X, can i save my mixes etc as Data, then transport to a PC as Data.I really dont want to mess with to many cords and take the time to install another sound interface in my PC.
