Ever check out artists that pollute local dollar bins (such as Herb Abert)

alright so dollar bins tend to be loaded with garbage and a few gems. for example today i hit a thrift store and there were at least 50 christmas records, and 20 each of mantovani, henry mancini, and herb alpert.

herb alpert i never had much interest in but someone recommended i check out this cat masakela and there was a herb alpert and masakela record at one of my shops. i put that **** on and it had some of the wackest trumpet playing i have heard. i have 2 other herb alpert records i will most likely never listen to.

i bought a mancini record today, "mancini's angels" because it had some dope soundtrack stuff on it, i'll be bumping that today. hope it's decent, there's lots more where that came from.

herb-alpert-is-one-of-those-artists-that-oversaturated-his-career-with-garbage,-but-he-does-have-some-gems.-the-albums-with-his-tijuana-brass-are-worth-a-listen.-grab-Whipped-Cream-and-Other-Delights-if-you-ever-see-it,-if-anything-just-for-the-cover-art.-herb-alpertp-also-made-the-song-'rise'-which-is-used-for-the-'hypnotize'-beat.-as-for-the-christmas-records,-i-can't-speak-on-those,-as-i've-never-bought-them.-if-anything-i'd-think-they-would-have-good-instrumentation-to-chop-up.

Dont forget Lionel Richie "All Night Long" never fails....at least 5 copies in every bin

ive grabbed a few Barbara Streisand records and have made a few nice beats from em

At my local Goodwill, within the last 4 trips I've easily seen 50 Nana Mouskori records. Never bothered touching them.

However, my very first dig, I picked up a copy of South Of The Border by Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass, and found some dope stuff on it. This surprised me once I found out Mr. Alpert was referred to as "thrift shop trash".

In conclusion, I dunno. A digger's first sense is to overlook the most common of records, but maybe there's some musical gems on them.
