edirol ur 80 and mic whats wrong?

i have a sony v40 dynamic mic plugged in to the input on the edirol ur 80 im just trying to do some test vocals with the ur80 and i cant get no sound out of the mic ,i went to the sound devices in control panel but when i go to the ur 80's volume controls i cant choose the settings for a mic input any body know whats wrong>

could it be the driver needs to be updated to get volume control settings?
