me and my band are covering a deftones song called "change (in the house of the flies). it's a completely badass song, but my keyboard/synth player can't find the software synth that frank delgado uses on the intro to that song (those first couple atmospheric creepy notes). Does anybody know a schematic in one of the popular synths out there to re-create this intro sound? or, is there a particular downloadable synth preset that can make this sound? PLEASE HELP!

Welcome to FP !! :hello:

Can you put a link to an excerpt/sample of that song here ?

Put it on e.g. Soundclick and give us a link.

Sorry but you can't put sounds on FP.

There was such a function years ago (actually it was 'attachment including'), but it was used abusive so Mano 1 removed it.

hey, i can't put the deftones song on there because soundclick won't let you put copywrighted material on there that's not yours. it only lets you put on your own songs.

the only other idea i could think of is, do you have ***** or napster? you could download the song (deftones:change (in the house of the flies) and listen to it...?

just an idea...

talk to you later..

i don't think anyone will really know.
it sounds kinda like a sample more than an actual synth sound. it could just be a pad, string, whatever slightly distorted and possibly resampled for a lo-fi dirty sound.

but once again i doubt anyone would know exactly

cool. thanks. my keyboard player has been messing with a bunch of sounds and he's pretty close, that might just have to do..

Be Quiet and Drive is a badass song. but, my two favorites are teenager and rx queen, and change of course.

hey man... im fairly new to the game but i have a great knack for picking out and engineering sounds by ear..... i spent about 2 minutes yesterday in reason and confirmed the synth sound is most likely a Female choir ("ahh") sound. its run through a 12bit Low pass filter. and the frequency has been turned down a bit(to mask the actual vocal chord sound and just leave kinda the residual/ambient sound [making up terms and s#*#]) ...i'm at work right now.. but ill give your definant numbers when i get back home...forgot to post lastnight..duh opps....im using reason. but like i said took me all of 3 minutes to get a very very very similar sound. give it a whip. like i said ill have the numbers later.

hey bassbiscuit, thanks a lot man. you're the only one so far in this thread that actually tried an attempt at this. i'll try the reason thing today and i'll get back to you on it.

my keyboard player will love this..

like i said no biggy dude only took a few minutes of my time... I have been on this forum for a whole day and it seems that EVERY post that ever getss put up here get EXTREMELY SIDETRACKED and the person that had a question never really got it answered.. people just started talking about something else... ill have more when i get home..still screwing around at work. work on the attack for that sample too.. its a lil too sharp.. its got to have a smooth rise.. (to match deftones) theirs smoothly waivers in and out in volume.

well, right now i can't seem to get any sound out of reason from my keyboard. the midi settings are all correct (right port chosen and USB device) but i can't seem to hear anything. i can see the levels move up on the rack units when i hit the keys, but no sound! hmm..
maybe it's becuz it's the demo version?!?

i'll mess with it some more..

sounds like bad soundcard settings maybe you want to harass your computer a little bit and not the actual program. sounds like your pc is being wierd.
