Dancehall Sound Effects

Can someone tell me where I can get some of the sound effects that they use in the dancehall.
Is there equipment that generate these sounds or are they just samples.

I have been doing this as a hobby for a few years.

there are both. Originally it was all done using sound effects machines no it is mostly samples cause the effects units that made the songs are getting harder to come by.
 
I can make most of the sound effects heard by using a keyboard...bad girl - beenie man (uses a synth sound)
like glue (uses some chorus sound which i found on my keyborad)
not all sound will be as easy to find though
 
I think he's talking about EFX used by sets (ie. the world famous "Stone Love Horn" or Jaro's "PHASER") If these are the sounds you mean PM me and I'll point you in the right direction...
 
If u're looking 4 krazy fx like supa dubs' black chineses, i think they from synth keyboard.

get this bad boy then a sound module and you can trigger any sound you want while playing live sound --


You can put any wave clip that you like and it will be played once you touch a key
 
thanks for all your repsonses..I am talking about the sound effects used by the sound systems like (Blach chiney, Natural Vibes, etc)

Is there a place to download some of them..especially the one that sounds like a horn, or a particular model of keyboard or device.

Not to give away a trade secret, but a lot of the horn sounds you hear are sampled from the beginning of two soca songs:

"Charge (Toro Toro)" - Xtatik & Shaggy

"Big Truck" - Xtatik
 
Interestingly there is also a box called a "lickshot" which is a little homemade fx box that various electrical tech guys in JA make, it has two buttons and a couple knobs, and it makes a lot of the laser noises you used to hear...

basically it is just a simple oscillator with some envelope shaping, but pretty ingenious still.

Ahright then....who's got the line on a lickshot. I love those 80's era laser sounds.....along the lines of Don Carlos's Fast with a laserbeam tune...wicked! Anybody ever seen one stateside?

Most of the current effects sound thin and cheap to me.

you will find one in Miami or NYC

other than that you get salt
 
Yeah the Lick Shot is cool, However it gets old fast. If you want sound efx that set you apart from the rest sample your own. How many sounds need the "Horn" or DX-100 "Space Invader"?
 
True enough. But where I live, that lickshot would rule it, though. I'm not playing for a bunch of urban sophisticates and Island exiles.

I'm looking for a sampler that can carry a variety of sounds....

LOL, here we go again.

When are you people going to wake up! Those sound effects have been going around more times than the local hoe. You have them, they have them, she had them and then realize its just another batch of same ole same ole "sound effects" going around on the internet.

DO NOT support (encourage) Audiomaxxx to hustle people like that.
