Can anyone tell me what type of filter/effect in combination with an electric guitar I need to create a sound similar to the one heard in Modjo's track Lady?

The sound I am referring to is the main re-occurring riff that consists of what sounds like 2 sets of 2 chords repeated over and over again.

Is it even a guitar that is making those chords?

what type of filter/effect

analogue filters i think would be best.
like stardust aka daft punk or motorbass and those french folks.

choice is like:
electrix filter factory, moogerfooger, sherman filterbank, akai MFC42 -- gear like that. kaoss pad me thinks would work as well!

maybe you have a synth with inputs so you could play the guit thru the synth and use its filters...or some EMU sampler which has super cool filters.

This doesn't really answer your question, but I don't think Modjo even knows how to re-create that sound. It was blantantly sampled from Chic - Soup for one. Check out http://datraxer.free.fr/daftcrew/samples/ and you'll see how little some producers did to alter their samples.

Nile Rogers from Chic predominantly used a Fender Stratocaster, and sometimes a Gibson Barney Kessel model, on most of Chic's recordings. He used to split the guitar signal in two, one line going straight into the mixing board via a DI box and a Urei LA-4 compressor, and one line going into either a Fender Twin Reverb, Super Reverb or a Roland JC120 amplifier.
What Modjo seem to have done on "Lady" is sample that one guitar line, then applied a bit of delay and some light filtering.

That's a great link..I had no idea that most of those guys were using samples.
