hi, i have a problem with copying and pasting audioclips in cubase

example:
I've recorded the vocals for the hook in 3 different.. "layers", don't know a better word for it.. so i have the mainlayer, a second mainlayer and the backups..
the audioclips are positioned to each other in a certain way, so that every layer fits to the rythm/beat..

now i select the hook-audioclips, copy and paste them behind the first hook, because i want to hear the hook twice.. now the problem:
the audioclips have changed their... positions to each other.. so if i drag them until the mainlayer is onbeat, the 2 other layers come too early or too late.. i don't understand why they don't keep their positions when i paste them. Why is that so?

Thx in advance for answers and excuse my poor english, i'm german..

I think you've recorded your vocals without paying attention to bpm/grid timing/bars. Listen to the metronome and make sure that your vocals are on beat with the metronome. Loop a section of 1 or 2 bars and let it loop and make sure that when the loop starts over, it doesn't get off timing. If you're working with less than perfect loops, then you can line them up end to end, there has to be either overlap, or a space.

no sorry, i don't think that's the problem..
i mean, when i copy a bunch of selected audioclips, why don't i get like a perfect 'copy' of it? why are the copied clips displaced to each other?

Try alt dragging them precisely to where you want them to go. Post up a screen shot of where your audio parts are going when you copied and pasted them.

i have the same problem but when i duplicate instead of pasting it works fine try that

Yes.. your cutting out of the audio dump.

export the hook as a wav. import it into your session.

then shift + alt and drag repeatively until you have enough.

To be honest, if you're talking about whole sections, you should be using the range tool, because that's precisely what it's for.

Sounds to me more like maybe you have some tempo track elements and your clips aren't in musical mode.

I don't know about that. I rarely use the range tool in Cubase, if ever actually. I'd probably use it more if it could "toggle" off the regular selection too. But since it doesn't, I just Alt click to chop, then grab the part I want and alt drag to duplicate it. Or use the key command that just duplicates at the end of itself.
