Convert keyboard to midi keyboard?

I don't have a midi keyboard, but I do happen to have an old (very, very old) keyboard and I'm wondering if there's something I can do-some sort of adapter maybe, which can convert it into a midi keyboard. The only output it has is a regular headphones port. Is it possible?

Unfortunately not, unless you're a very skilled electric engineer.

You need a midi out. Midi is an old standard though (I think '70s maybe?), I'm surprised it doesn't have General Midi.

either way you can find cheap controllers used on ebay and other music stores that sell used products. They usually last a long time, unless its a defective model.

Doesn't necessarily take a "very skilled engineer", since you can get generic MIDI out kits like Doepfer's CTM64 - but you still need some electronics experience and it's probably gonna end up costing more than just buying a MIDI-capable controller - so unless there's something really special about that certain keyboard, it's probably not worth it.

The MIDI spec came out in 1982, btw.
