Connecting Oxygen 49 2nd gen. to Sound Modules?

Hello Everyone! So I've seen that the Oxygen 49 does not have any dedicated 5 pin midi connections. I assume that this means that if I wanted to connect it to a sound module, (Slim Phatty, Access Virus etc.) I wouldn't be able to. Are there any workarounds to this? Any converters or connectors? I'm new to this type of midi so it may be a stupid question. Thanks!
 
You need a midi interface with the pin connection then you would set this up in your DAW and set your midi input from your controller and midi output from the midi interface. If your audio interface has midi this works too.
 
So would this mean that I would connect the module to the interface, and then control it through my daw? Would this work with ableton?
