connecting akai XR20 to fruity loops

can someone tell me how to connect my akai to my fruity loops? i have a midi cable and everything, my computer just wont read it

Are you trying to record the sounds from the XR20 or just control FL with it? MIDI isn't audio.

control fl studio with it.. it dosnt seem to send through my interface.

I found out. all you have to do is turn drum out on.
