This is the latest beat I've done. By a certain turn of events, I'm temporarily stuck using a different computer, and to continue making music, I downloaded the Ableton Free Trial just to give it a try. This is what I came up with.
This is a really cool beat man, I like the bassline a lot! I just don't like the kick you're using and I feel like it is being played too frequently. I would prefer it if it wasn't played on every step, if you know what I mean? Just my opinion anyway.
You have a good idea for the beat but what I really think it's lacking is direction; Direction in the sense of how you want your audience/listeners to feel. Try making a more emotional chord progression. Also, try making a more of a dynamic mix of instruments, instead of using an array of synths and pads. It will make it much more interesting. As far as mixing goes, try raising more of the low end frequencies so you'll get a warmer sound overall from your bass and track. And give your snare and kick a little more "oopmh" by raising the Low-Mid to Mid frequencies in your drum track. Happy producing
