hi you all! i am stefano from italy...you probably never heard or read from me here because i was a bit shy about writing in such a "pro" forum...but now i decided i'd need your help.

I read of people here asking if a 4300+ was better than a dual 2800+... well forget about it. my budget ain't enough even for a single block of really MASSIVE ram... i'd spend something like € 570 for this:

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ socket 754 on Asus k8v-mx

512 Mb DDR400 pc-3200

Maxtor 160Gb Sata 150

Radeon 9550 TD 256Mb

ok, don't laugh, i know this is DEFINITELY not a great pc but i just ask the best for the few money i can put in this...

NOW the questions are:

1 - what do you think about this machine?

2 - considering that i have € 50-100 exceeding from this, what do you suggest me to do? buying 1gig of ram instead of these 512mb or saving something more for a soundcard (i'm interested in audiophile 192k...)

all i am going to do with my pc is producing "fully electronic" music with reason, cubase and some vsti without ext synths, then maybe record guitars, vocals and percussions live. which kind of soundcard do you think is the best/cheapest for this?

thank you very much... :) [thf]

what you have will take care of your genaral needs. rember you will get what you pay for.

AMD IS A GOOD CHOICE.
ASUS IS ALSO A GOOD CHOICE.
I RECOMEND AT LEAST A 1GB OF RAM.
AND LEARN HOW TO MANAGE THE BACKROUND PROGRAMS RUNNING IN XP.

SOUND CARD- I PREFER THE TYPE WITH A BREAKOUT BOX SOMETHING LIKE THE M-AUDIO 1010 OR THE DSP2000 C-Port. Souds awsome for home stuidos and has that studio look. For a fair price.
