im having the hardest time doing it... and im pretty sure its the mixer because my crabs sound so much better on my buddy's empath.. and also on a djm600

my question, which might sound stupid, is.. is it even POSSIBLE to crab on the sa-3? haha

If it has a focus fader.....FORGET IT! You might try swapping the fader out with a vestax 05 cf. That's what I did with my sk 2f ltd mixer. It was compatible and now that mixer works great. The fader is a little stiff...well I shouldn't say stiff, but it does have a little bit of resistance to it but overall the sound quality of the scratches is 500 times better now with the vestax fader in there.

nah im using just the default fader that came with the mixer.. im thinking of buying the png fader for the mixer in the summer though.. either that or a rane 56 :)

dude its not the equipment its only because the fader is different lube it up and practice practice practice thats what it takes

Believe me...it's the equipment.Stanton faders suck. At least the cross faders do.

they dont suck that bad i have an sk6-f without the focus fader which is the same as an sa 3 and i can crab tight as hell, i learned how to on a gemini pmx-250 so dont go telling me that its the equipment its practice thats how you get it down

That's the key phrase-without a focus fader. The focus faders suck for technical scratches. I don't know about the regular faders from stanton nor do I really care either. I'm going by experience. I got an sk 2f ltd. I couldn't nail a crab or flare very well with it. When I switched faders that changed. So yeah...I will sit here and tell you it is the equipment on certain occasions...but not all. I believe in practice practice practice as well..but I also deal with the realities of bullsh!t ass gear too.

it takes a lot more skillz to scratch a focus fader.

Your fader hand control has to be really tight, that s why most cats hate on the focus fader!

Nothing wrong with the fader

I guess it probably depends on what version of the focus fader it is too. I know there's more than 1 version of it and maybe one is better than the other.

i learned to crab on my sa-3 in 2 days... not the tighest crab, but still 4 distinct sounds... the cut in time could be a little better but its not too much to adjust to, i think its awesome myself....

True, i have the bad one and it always stiffened up a cutting for a few minutes. But you just have to open it up and clean the rails and relube it with another lube: gunoil, vaseline, whatever

yeah man it has nothing to do about the equiptment its all about skill an control. I can crab, flare and orbit on any mixer even a gemmini, but i tend to stick with my 56

hahahaha ive clocked almost every scratch but the crab on my gemini mixer! had it about 3 years now and its bleeding like a mutha. i dont know if im fuking up but is it aight to crab non hamster style and must one not really have to tense up their thumb?

I use the stanton sk-6f, but replaced the whack focus fader with the stock fader and it's pretty dope. Crabs are easy. The upfaders are real whack though.

I was using a numark mixer the other day, how can they call that a scratch mixer? Crabs were not do-able on it at all. I just got mad and quit... no more whack mixers for me.

I've ****ed wit many a mixerz frum ranes to vestaks..but I finally found one that suits me. The DJM 909 wit fader adjustment...meaning I can adjust the feel of the fader frum hard to soft.Yes Yes spendy but well worth the money...and by the way statons suckass anyway...shame on you for buying one...lolz

hey peeps, i got the focus v2, got mine bout 4 months ago, at first i thought it was shady cos it was too smooth, it just bounces off the sides. but once you get used to it its ****ing amazin, and on the sk-2f ltd the adjustable curve makes it almost instantly on/off bout 1mm from the side. all in all, sweet fader, dont knock it

what is everyones opinion on the vestax pmc-05? any glitches to know about it?, as im considering getting one soon.. cheers

I like the 05, the only problem I have is on some of the models the headphone pan fader is too close to the crossfader. Personally, I like alot of room around my crossfader.

the 05 is a good mixer, i had one myself, and its grerat...
but if i were you..save up a extra 500 and get a 56...while u saving up pratice hard with whatever you got and don't be like me... i never had a mixer for more than a year...recently i purchased a new mixer every 3 months...equipment junkie is i am..
