I tried the ones in Hypersonic but they don't seem to pack as much punch.
Any tips?

If you don't have anything else I use bolland brass section but its a soundfront

Actually, I prefer Hypersonics brass, when layered. Not many other vsts have that hip hop brass feel. Some of us like to pretend there are no such things as hip hop brass, but really even though there is not a specific category in hypersonic or philharmonik we all know what hip hop brass is and philharmonik does not have it, and neither does VI ONE or any other plugins I've tried. Not to say hip hop brass is the best for all situations because I use some normal orchesteral brass sometimes with a real mellow and deep sound to it but I know what you mean by hip hop brass and hypersonic is really good for it when layered.

^I'm not trying to argue over labels. I'm just trying to find out exactly what the OP is looking for because "hip-hop brass" is vague and, atleast in my mind, meaningless term.

Neither am I, I'm just saying that a lot of people think of it as a meaningless term because they don't want to believe that they're producaZ who fall under that generic hip hop beatmaking stereotype. Not saying you do this though.

and besides hip hop brass, would be pretty easy to infer what it is, I mean its vague but its punchy bright, brassy, DMX beats, T.I's beats that sort of thing.

Nexus and East West Quantum leap symphonic are the two I use. Along with some quality reverb and EQ, it sounds pretty DMX like. It can also get pretty damn crunk if you tune it right (not sure if that's what you're going after).

There are also some good soundfonts (I remember one called OJ Brass or something floating around the net that was pretty dope). Other than that, I agree about Hypersonic 2 having very good brass when layered up 4 or 5 times.

Reason has good brass. That's all I can think of right now for that big bright brass sound.

Why do people pretend they don't know what "hiphop" brass is?
I mean yes the same instrument can be used in many different genres, but we all know what people mean when they say "hiphop" brass... unless ur not into hiphop.

also... it's hard to find that magic brass VST/sample that sounds how you hear on the radio.
i'm sure there's brass out there that's better than others... but most of it comes from really good mixing and effects.
The strongest brass VST i've heard so far is TPS module.

i think you should just layer the brass like i do octaves, and eq a lil it makes it sound beautiful...im pretty sure thats what the big boys do...

In Korg's legacy collection of vsti's there's a clone of the vintage m1 workstation. The brass sounds are in the domain of the punchy, synthesized horn sound i think your looking for. Also try the brass patches in nexus' synthetic brass section they come as close as your going to get with in the realm of vst instruments.

buy modernbeats brass, use arturia, or then buy Korg Synth. DONE !

im going to give you guys my secrets. all i do is make jeezy type beats. i use nexus with dance expansions, edirol orchestral, and SOUNDFONTS! im telling you, the key to that bright horn sound is EQ. trust me.

I will cosign on the soundfonts thing....with the right soundfonts, when tuned and mixed right they can be a beast

can yall be more specific on the soundfonts? im not really familiar with them at all...any more detail would be appreciated

Don't know many good VST brasses... I agree on the Soundfonts thing though. There are some freebies online.. and there are some you can purchase for cheap. Depends on what you're doing with them. Layering can help. You can find some brass soundfonts here as well: Brass Soundfonts. Good luck on your search! Hope this helped a bit...

Brass Section patches are probably what you guys are after. I have some great ones in the Motif Rack XS. Other than that I would look at Hypersonic (if you can get your hands on it), Goliath, Sampletank, Kontakt, Reason etc etc. Eastwest have some awesome sample libraries available also. They are expensive though but many could say worth it.
