It sounds like you are trying to compress it too hard. Are you side chaining parts with the kick? It cuts the entire mix out like it is side chained to EVERYTHING. I wouldn't do that because you don't want melody pumping with this style. With trap, you basically take the bottom end off all parts....so high pass everything from 200 hz and up and that leaves room for your kick and 808 sub and there is no need to side chain. If you aren't side chaining, your kicks are just too loud so that they take over everything in your mix...this happens with you pop a limiter on and something really loud pushes everything else out of the mix...basically you have a finite amount of space and the loud part displaces everything when it comes in...it has a similar effect to side chaining.
Fix that and I think you will be set.
