Mbox arrived broken, waiting on replacement, could be weeks

I have an AT4040 (phantom not USB)
Yamaha MG10 (old) Yamaha MG16 too
I have Rokit speakers and 2 mackie mr5 monitors
sony mdr 5606 (2)
Portabooth is awesome.

Got a new PC. No software on it.

Is there any way I can use just this to record ok vocals until I get the new mbox?

You're going to need an interface to record the audio into the computer. Unless you have an old mic preamp somewhere around that you can run to your computer's "line in" jack.

I know I don't have one :-( I used mbox as preamp. Would suck to wait until July :-x
Can you suggest a 'get by' preamp cheap, even an old one?
Should I just go get a used mbox 2? idk... then I'll have 2 mbox's... urg

You need an A/D so you can encode the analog signal to digital and record it into your daw,
The most affordable A/Ds are in interfaces.

If the A/D on your mbox is still functional, you could use the mixer as a preamp/phantom source and then route it to the mbox.

Yep, both those mixers have a bunch of preamps in them. And the "new PC" probably has a line in, which means it has a cheapo soundcard in it (and thus a/d/a converters). So it's possible to record, even if the quality won't be quite up where it could be, but probably well passable.
