Any differences between the "Blue" and "Black mpc1000??..

Besides the color, and the fact that the Black one comes with the updated OS,,is there any differences between the earlier 1000s and the newer black ones?..Is there anything internally different, because I could care less about the color. Especialy when the older blue ones im finding even new in the box are cheaper than the black ones for some reason...I got the money for one,,im looking at gettin a blue, unless anyone can give me a good reason besides "The black looks doper", and I "hear" the pads are made better, with no proof..

I noticed in current prices, the AKAI MPC1000 is listed at $999.99 from msrp $1499.99.

I have a 2003 catalog from the same two major online US music gear shops, and the MPC1000 is listed at $879.00.

What gives?

Inflation? Weak US dollar?

Unfortunately, synth gear doesn't (normally) follow the same trend as other electronics. Computers and other consumer electronics generally go down in price - music gear generally doesn't.
 
A lot of places are selling the black model for a higher price than the blue. They only get away with this because it's new and it looks better. Some people are willing to pay more.

Also, I think that all MPCs have jumped up in price recently, even here in the UK. Don't know why.
 
the blue ones are slightly cheaper many places and alot of them don't have the new os (which is a free upgrade anyway)

but the black ones look much nicer than the blue ones
 
Well how about this tought paint your blue one to black so that way you dont have to spend money on that. The black is pretty cool.
 
hahaha that would be hard to do cause u dont want tha spray stuff to go on tha pads or nuttin so i wouldnt recamend it i heard tha blue n black were just couple hundred from each other witch aint bad but it really dont matter wat color it is to me atleast i still want one lol i tried bot at a music store in nashville n both sounded tha same so it really dont matter
 
no no no they are not the same. unless you upgrade your OS on the blue one. the black one can hook up via USB and has timestretching and some other new features.

When they both run on OS 2.1 they are exactly the same.
 
but how mutch are they ? i forget its been awhile since i tried em out lol
 
People are getting ganked for the 1000 now

I bought one 2yrs ago for $900 and through a mix-up with the online store i got shipped a box w/ 3 mpc1000's instead of 1 mpc1000. I sold the others and kept 1 one.

But to answer your question they're exactly the same machine as long as you've got the same OS on it. Don't let any idiot's on here tell you otherwise. The only difference is the color.

By the way i'm trying to sell my 1000 cause i got the 2500 in december and no longer need it. There's no problems w/ it... other than 3 small scratches on the bottom right hand corner. You interested in buying it. I'm selling it for cheap cause it's just been sitting here collecting dust since i loaded it w/ the new OS.
 
Unless the new OS added features to the blue, they are different. I had the blue one, it could not reverse samples, which is why I sold it. Maybe they fixed that w/the updated OS though....

isn't tha difference between both is tha black one has a usb?
