Ok so I'm looking to buy some new hardware and I've narrowed my decision down to either the mpc 4000 or the mc 909. I'm not sure which one to go after since I've heard good reviews on both. Can someone out there please help me in makin a decision!? Thanks!

Go with the MPC. It might be a lil more expensive but its definitely worth it.

Just out of curiosity what made you look at the 909?

I'd think the MV 8000/8800 would be a more logical match-up.

If you are considering the 909 you can't loose with a MV...

If you want more realtime controls and something that's fun to use live, go with the MC-909. The MPC is better for production overall, but it costs a lot more. I've also heard that the MPC4000 has one of the steepest learning curves amongst MPC's.

But to be honest, if you don't know what you're doing and you're just getting into production, don't throw down a huge chunk of money on something unless you know you'll be able to take advantage of it. If you just wanna get into making beats and have fun, get a Korg Electribe... one of the sampler series.

I've never used a MV... probably never will..

Not really. The MPC 4000 is very user friendly. It's just not a beginner's machine. I bought one some years ago and was making beats the first day, I had never touched any type of MPC before then. If you understand how hardware sequencers work you can pick up any sequencer. Just know what you are getting into. If you aren't quite on that level yet, put your money to better use.
