hi,
does anyone know a shop on the web with an accapella section. does anybody know of any releases having accapellas of quality male spoken vocals that have a bit of funk&cool to them that would go in a house/tech house set. i am not looking for any completely cheesy sounding female voice singing about her love for everybody though.... :-)))

any help is appreciated,

markus

Personally I use Foremost Poets - Moonraker almost every time in my sets. It's one of the fines acapella's I know.
Most people know it as the Ying/Yang acapella. It starts with the famous needlescratch, followed by "Please do no be alarmed, remain calm, do not attempt to leave the dance floor,..." and goes on for quite a bit. Just an acapella to use on an on. Take my advice, if you find it, get it twice. It's just pure joy to play with this one.

One of the finest accapellas of late is Marcel's "Praying". The one that goes "I'm praying for all the freaks, in those big dark rooms..." I've been using it quite a lot too. Comes in Tom Middleton's remix on Junior, quite easy to get. Also from Marcel comes "True House Music", a great piece of vocal to lay over house tunes. Oh, his cavernous voice is great IMHO, often of good taste and fits most house/prog, tribal, deep or techy beats.

I'd also reccomend Smokin Jo's "Yanu" vocal. The Fluential release has the accapela that says "I know you're out there... I can feel it... I'm gonna show you the world..." or something like Neo's last talk on Matrix. It's damn fine too.

I filled a half dozen CDs w/ all the accapellas I could find, and also some great beats to loop and mix. This ways I don't have to carry all the vinyl to use'em in my sets.

www.htfr.com have a bunch of accapella records, but avoid the Defected ones unless you want endless varities of belting divas.

The promo of the new Roland Clark joint "Speak To Me" has an accapella, which is just spoken word. "I get deep I get deep I get deep.... blah blah blah chilling in the corner at Shelter all by myself... I get high and sh!t..." It's pretty cool and there's no set meter so it doesn't matter that much if you match the tempo either.

thanks for your tips. do you know any shops on the web with an acapella section?

cheers,
markus
