I received 50 bucks today from this guy who told me to spend on my techno music. So, I'm wondering what the best thing to spend it on would be. Right now, Ive only been using computer programs, and I doubt 50 bucks could get me anything tangible that would be usefull to me. I'm just starting out and am using fruity, rebirth, acid, simsynth, drumsynth and mj studio. What should I spen my 50 bucks on?

a half decent dodgy mic second hand and get a mic lead that ends in a guitar jack and get a jack to headphone jack to stick on the end if u need it and stick it in your computer, and say "Mega Operation Phat Si Track!" and then download an analogx.com plugin for robovocoder voice effect and do that. TThen cut and paste it into the groove.

i think it is spelt http://www.analogx.com - it's a free plugin.

go son!

vaz

Buy the Vaz+ 1.7 softsynth. It's a great program for about 30 bucks I believe. I would tell you to get the modular, but it's a little more expensive. Basically, it's a good 2 oscillator softsynth with LFO's and filters that has many patches which emulate various hardware synths as well as some funky sounding ones that have a completely distinct new sound from anything else in the hardware realm. Or you can waste the cash on a sh*tty mic or crappy sample disc. It's your choice. I just like playing with softsynths to create my own loops personally however.

Man you must think the sun shines out of your *** with the vibe you're giving off. As you personally prefer to do your own loops, you might understand why some people might also like to drop in their own vocal samples. As 'Unworldly' already uses Rebirth i thought i might suggest an extension to their studio. If they were lucky enough to be given 50 bucks they might be lucky enough to find a cool mic for 50 bucks.
That said, maybe Vaz would be the better purchase - who knows? But if you try flaming my suggestions i will send u a nondescript virus that will rip your ISP into pieces.

I would use that fifty bucks to relax myself. Spend it on somethings that help clear your head. Take yourself out for dinner or get a massage. Then, go sit in front of your computer and let the ideas flow. Sometimes the best purchases are those that benefit the soul and not our list of posessions. (this is just a thought)

Good Luck

well, my 50 bucks has gone up to 70, so i think im gonna get that mike and that synth program thing, the message sounded appealing too, but im gonna pass on that one. thanks for the help guys.

btw

btw, there wouldnt happen to be an online place to get this stuff would there? im in the heart of nowhere and am having trouble findin this stuff at the stores.

sorry i-clan

Hey i-clan. I didn't mean to demean your suggestion, I think it's a great idea to put your own vox samples into a song and I use the analog-x vocoder myself, however it's tough to get a good quality mic set up around that price range and do exactly what you want. The sun doesn't shine out of my *ss and in fact most of my music is subpar, but I like the idea of creating it from scratch with my own synth loops. It is true that, having rebirth, you can make lots of great sounding original loops, however, the rb-338 program is limited to the sounds of the 303, 808, and 909. The old acid sound inherent with these synths has been used over and over and over again. Purchasing a slightly different softsynth that has more variety in the sound you can create seems like the best choice in my opinion, and being limited to 70 dollars, it is impossible to get a big name top quality program like Reason. Another idea would be to get a really good set of speakers for your computer with a sub. It won't help you in creating new material to insert into your music, but it will help you greatly in using what you already have because the upgrade in sound quality will help you to tweak your tracks until they reach that perfect sonic quality.
You can get Vaz+ 1.7 directly from the company that developed it at http://www.software-technology.com It's 35.01 US dollars and will be emailed directly to you. The site also has a section that lists the many accolades and reviews that the program has received from well known sources on computer music composition as well as a demo of the program, so you can go there and check out all the information to make an informed decision on whether or not the program will fit your needs and desires.
