Small deep bass monitors for room?

I can't play loud music outside where I live and I usually hang out in my Garage which is detached from the house. Soundproofing is not an option because of the way the Garage is built and it is a small 1-car garage [L16'xW10'x8'].

I wasted money purchasing a 5-set Kenwood wall speakers, no bass at all so I am thinking that maybe I need the same type of setup Recording Studios have? I don't have much money to spend on speakers so I am looking for the cheapest wall speakers that will give me some Bass, quality is not much of an issue here, I just need something that will give me the bass punch like what you get in a car off the Radio. For this reason, I am thinking of having at least 4 [maybe 5?] small monitors placed at an angle at the 4 corners of the garage so no matter where you stand there will be a speaker close to you at ear height, this way I won't have to use much volume?

One type of speaker I am thinking of is that Optimus Pro77

Would 4 or 5 of these provide enough Bass for me or what would you guys recommend?

1) Speakers like that really don't reproduce usable low end.

2) The ratio of your room is going to require a substantial amount of bass trapping before you're really going to hear any usable low end.

You should be looking for speakers with probably 8" woofers and amplifiers with enough headroom to handle the low transients - even for low-volume listening.

Yes, this is close to what I am thinking too which is why I am looking into Studio monitors, right now I am trying to decide between these models but don't know which may be best?

I don't want to get into "acceptable" amounts of low end, but the BX8's are cutting it close - The BX5's would fall into the "unacceptable" category (IMO). Not nearly enough response to make accurate judgements in the problematic range in the lows.

Plus, they're nearfields - Any reasonable amount of accuracy you're going to get is going to be moot at a yard away. He isn't looking for nearfields - He's looking to fill a room with sound. Standard-throw, wide dispersion, full range sound.

Back to that - Those links didn't translate properly - Might want to try again...

Sorry those links do not work, try these please:

BTW, yes, I would like to fill the room with Bass but consider that my intention is to get at least 4 for all corners, this means that the furthest distance the bass will have to travel to meet anyone's ear is 7-8', also note that I don't want to "feel" the bass, only "hear" it and I would like to hear the bass with a tight punch like when listening to Radio in a car.

The punch and accuracy will have more to do with bass trapping - A car needs none, as there is no bass reflection. Even a small amount of lows in your room is going to cause moderate-to-severe cancellation and peaks in the low content.

So - It's a two-way street - (1) You need speakers that can handle the low end (none of those listed are going to make you very happy, IMO/E) and (2) The room needs to be able to handle the speakers.

Can you recommend which "specs" I should look for in a speaker and also which size of woofer?

Other than that, specs are BS for the most part - Especially in smaller speakers. If every speaker that claimed "flat response" actually HAD flat response, they'd all sound the same - which of course, isn't even remotely the case...

But assuming that you're looking for listenability and not flat-out accuracy in general, I'd stop by the loca stereo shop (Best Buy, etc.) and see what's on sale with 8's or 10's...

One of friend's who has a studio has been telling me the same thing recently, he has two regular 10" stereo boxes but has them up on the wall on a shelf, when I asked him why he placed them so high up on a shelf, he said that he uses much less volume this way and also becuase at that ear height, he can hear everything much more clearly than if the speakers were on the ground which is what gave me the idea to have 4 speakers at each corner at ear height, alright so to break this down I will try going with 4 regular [at least 8"] speakers at the placement mentioned and use a powerful amp.

Appreciate the help!
