Machinedrum as master MIDI setup question.

I've got a decent amount of hardware, so I'm confused as to what the best midi setup would be. Here's what I have:

Digital Performer 4.5
MOTU 828MKII soundcard/midi interface------------
Machinedrum
Nord Lead 3
Sidstation
BassStation
Juno-106
Yamaha DX7IIFD Centennial

I want to use the Machinedrum as the Master due to it's accuracy, and I want to use my NL3 as my main keyboard to record MIDI notes into DP4. Any suggestions on the best route?

Thanks in advance.

Software doenst like being a slave, especially when its running audio tracks.

Really? I had heard it was better to use a hardware master since the timing is more precise. So are you saying DP4 should be the master in my setup?

Thanks for your input.

Its good to run a hardware master clock source for the digital audio if you are running more than 2 or 3 devices. But for tempo sync leave it to the sequencer.

So, should I just run the ins/outs of the Nord Lead into the ins/outs of the Motu 828, then connect the (thru) of the Nord to the next module, and continue that to the end???

Probably best to get a thru box to reduce latency but chaining them will work in the mean time.

Yeah I would use DP 4.5 as the master, let it conrtol all the external devices.

You could always make a beat on machinedrum also and then record it into DP afterwards.
