Bouncing tracks is an option but at a cost.

If you bounce lets say 5 drum tracks into 2 tracks (stereo). What would you do if you had to make something louder? or lower?

That would be very heart wrenching to even think that you have to redo drums, especially when you have tracks 3-8 filled up already.

There are ways to fix it without sacrificing tracks, but it is a painstaking process.

Remember these things have at least 8 virtual tracks on each channel which makes them more than just 4 or 8 tracks. You can bounce down to a virtual track and still leave the originals. That way, if you need to alter the volume of the kick etc. you can always go back to the originals and bounce them down again.

You might be right there but overall, Why bother with bouncing in the first place? There are plenty of 16 track recorders that are affordable. And if you have a PC already you can basically set-up the computer to do what a hardware DAW can for the same amount of money.
