your opinion on my recording setup please

Whats up peoples?
I'm looking at doing some upgrading in order to get a better sound for my vocal recordings. My partner and I have a difference of opinion as to what we should get next. Tell me what you think...
My setup is this:

Microphone: AKG 414B
Preamp: Art Pro Channel Professional Tube Pre
Sound Card: M-Audio Delta Audiophile 2496.

We like the Mic but the question is this:

NEW MIC PRE OR NEW SOUND CARD???
Our budget is about $1500-$2000
Suggestions about specific models would be appreciated as well.

new sound card is the most urgent, try motu or go real pro with an rme aes/ebu card and lavry ad/da's.

A better preamp could also be good, but that's not that urgent in comparing with your preamp.

The mic is a classic, altoug not really for hiphop. But it could be good. It's the best piece of your set up.
