Synth mixing

Question about how y'all go about mixing software synths. Do you compress and eq them or dont bother? I never really know what to do with synths when it comes to mixing.

It depends what role the synth is playing if its the lead then i want to make sure it has it's on space and make sure its in the middle of*the*stereo field i also usually add a touch of distortion to make it pop out a little more.

eq is very valuable.. i know your compress here and there but i need to learn that.. work on eq'in and raising/cuttting the frequencies you need and you should be good.

I agree with B3Bomber-"It depends what role the synth is playing." Also, when you playback the entire mix, if you find you are constantly re-adjusting the synth's fader, then it might be a good idea to compress the synth track just to even out the volume diferences.
Just my 2 cent,
