how to achive this guitar sound

hey what's up? i was wondering if you can hear this song and go to minute 2:35

that guitar sound is just so soft to me! can anyone tell me if its the way it was recorded? mic position perhaps? or is it just the guitar pick thickness that makes the difference when recording an acoustic guitar track.


i've heard A LOT of albums that have acoustic guitars but this song its just the perfect example that i think justifies why i ask such a dumb question.

Well there's three guitars playing in that breakdown, 2 acoustics (prolly one 12 string) and theres an electric playin subtle as well. What's making it sound like that is all the guitars are playing different parts, same key just different position on the fretboard. which makes it sound more fuller. as for effect i hear a bit of echo and reverb, but im on crap computers at the moment so i can't be accurate.
