Ok. Say you want to produce both mainstream type of beats and classic undergroup hip hop beats. Can a producer get respect from the 2 different "genres"? Or should he just produce one of the two?

Its many producers that are producing differnt genre's of music and still have the respect of other people in the game. I don't think it will tarnish your career or nothing. Most producers that are known probably don't produce as much underground stuff because obviously they make more money doing the main stream work

DJ remier did christina's last album and he's done a lot of hip hop as well. Versatility is a MAJOR plus in music.

It's better to have multiple styles.
You learn more and develop.
