.. so hi all
I'm a guitarist/bassist trying to turn into home music producing. I've made and played music in bands for 15 years or so, but somehow I've always managed to not learn pretty much anything about DAW's and such, somebody else has always taken care of that. Now that the internet seems to have broken most social bones from everybody, I've noticed that it's really hard to find people who would actually have the time to go jam out and rehearse together and stuff. Sad as that is, I was hoping I could still learn the digital ropes to produce my own music.
I went for FL Studio (the cheapest version) and have been dappling with that for some days now. I'm really not too much the wiser for it yet. I also noticed that I need the more expensive version to actually record any real instruments! Kind of a bummer but I have my hands full with everything else this program has for a while.
I would like to learn to make some semi-decent beats, and add bass and guitar to those. My music tastes run from fusion jazz to hip hop to black metal to delta blues, so I'm really not aiming for any particular genre. Actually one of the best things when you get older (I'm 42) is that you can just make music for the fun of it, without having to stress over any pipedreams of "making it big". So this is just for myself.
I'll be seeing all of you around.
